Introduction to Mama2Mama baby bank

We opened this baby bank on Mother’s Day 14.3.2021 and what a better date to finally open a community serving project very close to my heart that has been couple of years in the making. 

We offer assessments for the whole family and work in partnership with parents, to plan, monitor and evaluate support until they overcome the problems they face. This will include referrals for parenting programmes, targeted family support services, employability, advice and health services. Referrals will be made to our wider services and partners, who we have strong and established relationships with.

Did you know that 70% of people who come to baby banks for help are families where both parents are in full time employment? I know.... some people despite working full time sadly can’t afford to raise their families and we try to help in any small way we can to ease the burden. 

2020 has been a challenging year for most of us, which made me double focused and super determined to get this community serving project off the ground. I volunteered most of the year with other Baby Banks in the area and noticed first hand how supplies just flew out and straight into community. It was sad to witness some families were in such poverty they didn’t even have nappies to last them till next day and empty supermarket shelves did not help the situation. We were ready to help but there are so many more families that need this kind of help. I have worked tirelessly all last year to bring this project to life. 

I will continue to engage with local government and businesses to pull together and give back to people who need it most.
